I am toying around with (once again!) the idea of kicking-off a serious effort to "blog." Devoting time, effort, energy, and maybe even $$ to document my interests. More specifically, my interests in Porsche, automotive technologies, and all things related. No, I won't be commenting on Honda's, Chevrolet (ok- maybe on the occasional interesting bits that come out from time to time!) or other domestics.... My passion for Porsche as a brand has more to do with excellence in engineering, enduring design, passion for detail and experience, and so on. Sounds very important, right? It is hard to explain, but this isn't something that happened because of an advertisement, or marketing campaign on the part of Porsche A.G. No, this is an affair that began many many years ago, when I was growing-up.
Some more recent background: I've been a "member" of a lucky club of Porsche owners for about a year now. I purchased my first P-car, a 2014 911 Carrera 4S in November (actually it was Black Friday 2013!) last year. Since then, I've joined Porsche Club of America (PCA) and I've participated with the broader community of P-Car owners mainly through my posts (I am known as 'plenum' on those boards!) to various online forums, including 6speedonline and Rennlist. I can't claim to be a significant contributor, but in the past 10 months or so I have posted over 400 times, and in at least a dozen cases I have posted very detailed Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects that many other members wouldn't even attempt!
My satisfaction in posting useful, helpful, interesting content is clear... However, my disdain for the constant barrage of vendor ads and repeating arguments about "what's the better car" and so on has really created a feeling of disdain for the "commercial" boards. So, I am moving all of my existing and future posts along with my DIY content from those boards and into this blog space. To that end, I will begin copying my previous posts here, and gauging how this is received. I will also try to promote my blog to other enthusiasts, with the goal of this blog becoming my primary point of participation in the P-car community.
Stay tuned for further posts as I get organized....
